Water-Cooled Ozone Generator for Air and Water Treatment Systems

Ozone generators produce ozone (O₃) – a powerful oxidizing agent – primarily through corona discharge or ultraviolet radiation. While highly effective for disinfection and purification in both air and water treatment applications, ozone must be handled with care. High concentrations can pose health risks; therefore, adequate ventilation and strict adherence to safety protocols are essential during operation.

Working Principle
Ozone generation via corona discharge occurs when oxygen-containing gas passes through a high-voltage electric field between two electrodes. This creates micro-discharges that dissociate oxygen molecules (O₂) into individual oxygen atoms (O). These atoms then combine with undissociated O₂ to form ozone (O₃), summarized by the reaction:
O + O₂ → O₃

Only a portion of the electrical energy contributes to ozone production, as significant heat is generated during the process. Efficient heat removal is critical, achieved through a water-cooling system that maintains optimal temperature conditions. Both feed gas quality and cooling water temperature significantly influence ozone yield, with lower temperatures resulting in higher production efficiency.
